213. Examples of the manner of placing these words in sentences.
1st. Of ഒക്ക or ഒക്കയും.
ഒക്ക വന്നു. The whole came.
അവൻ ഒക്ക വിറ്റ കളഞ്ഞു. He sold all.
കൃഷി ഒക്കയും പിഴച്ചുപൊയി.
The whole of the crop has failed.
അവൻ എന്റെ ദ്രവ്യം ഒക്കയും മൊഷ്ടിച്ച കളഞ്ഞു.
He stole all my money.
അവനുള്ളതിൽനിന്ന ഒക്കയും അവർ കുറെശ്ശ എടുത്തു.
They took a little from all he had.
താൻ കാണുന്നതൊക്കയും ഇനിക്കുള്ളതാകുന്നു.
All that you see is mine.
ഇതൊക്കയും ഞങ്ങൾക്ക വന്നു. All this happened to us.
2nd, എല്ലാവരും. Mas. and Fem. plural, is used thus,
അവർ എല്ലാവരും ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ടൊ? എല്ലാവരും ഉണ്ട.
Are they all here? All are here.
അവൻ അവരുടെ എല്ലാവരുടെയും മുമ്പാകെ നിന്നപ്പൊൾ അവരെ എല്ലാവരെയും അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.
When he stood before them all, he did not know the whole of them.
ൟ ചൊറ അവൎക്ക എല്ലാവൎക്കും ഭക്ഷിപ്പാൻ തികയും.
This rice will be sufficient for the whole of them.
ഞാൻ അവരൊട എല്ലാവരൊടും നല്ല ഗുണദൊഷം പറഞ്ഞു.
I gave them all excellent advice.
3rd. എല്ലാം, Neuter Gender, is placed in sentences thus,
അവൻ എല്ലാം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. He brought all.
ആ മൃഗങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം ഒടിപൊയി.
The whole of those Beasts ran away.
അവൻ ൟ വൃക്ഷങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം വെട്ടികളഞ്ഞു.
He cut down all these trees.
ൟ തൈകൾ എല്ലാത്തിന്റെയും എലകൾ പൊഴിഞ്ഞപൊയി.
The leaves fell from the whole of these plants.
അവൻ ൟ തൈകൾക്ക എല്ലാം വളം ഇട്ടു.
He put manure to the whole of these plants.
ഇത എല്ലാത്തിനെകാളും നല്ലതാകുന്നു.
This is better than all.
ൟ വീടുകൾ എല്ലാത്തിലും ആളുകൾ പാൎക്കുന്നുണ്ട.
There are people living in all these houses.
4th. എല്ലാം, abbreviated and prefixed, or affixed in its full shape, to അവൻ is rendered into English by our words each one, every one; thus,
എല്ലാവനും അപ്രകാരം ചെയ്യെണം. Every one must do so.
നന്മ ചെയ്യുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം ദൈവത്തെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിക്കും.
Every one that doeth good will please God.
ഇതിനെ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം ദൊഷത്തിൽനിന്ന ഒഴിയും.
Each one who believeth this will avoid evil.
It is to be observed as a general rule, that when pronouns in the sentence refer to such nominatives as signify each one, every one; however the Malayalim forms may be made; such pronouns must be doubled, and if the pronoun be made with any of the cases of അവൻ, the first is put in the nominative and the last in the case required. When they are formed with any of the cases of താൻ; both the pronouns are, usually, put in the case required, or one of the cases of താൻ is supplied by തന്നെ, used as a particle; as,
നല്ല മനുഷ്യൻ എല്ലാം അവനവന്റെ, or തന്റെ തന്റെ ഇഷ്ടത്തിൻ പ്രകാരം നടക്കയില്ല ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കല്പന പ്രകാരം നടക്കെയുള്ളു.
No good man will walk according to his own pleasure, but according to the command of God only.
എല്ലാവനും അവനവന്റെ കാൎയ്യങ്ങളെ വിചാരിക്കെണം.
Each one must mind his own affairs.
എല്ലാവനും തന്റെ തന്റെ കാൎയ്യങ്ങളെ കുറിച്ച രാജാവിനൊട ബൊധിപ്പിക്കെണം.
Each one must inform the king about his on n affairs.
എല്ലാ ജാതികളും അതത സെവിച്ചവരുന്ന ബിംബങ്ങളെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി.
Each sect made the images that it is in the habit of serving.
ആ പശുക്കൾ എല്ലാം വന്നപ്പൊൾ അതിനെ കെട്ടുന്നസ്ഥലത്ത ചെന്ന നിന്നു.
When the whole of the cows came, each went and stood at the place where (the people were in the habit) of fastening it.
5th. Examples of the use of ഒരുത്തൻ, &c.
ഒരുത്തൻ വന്നു.
One (man) came.
അവരിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ അപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു.
One of them said so.
ആ സ്ത്രീകളിൽ ഒരുത്തി പൊയി.
One of those women went.
ആ വീടുകളിൽ ഒന്നിൽ നീ പാൎത്തുകൊള്ളുക.
Live in one of those houses.
ൟ കുതിരകളിൽ ഒന്നിന്റെ കാല ഒടിഞ്ഞപൊയി.
The leg of one of these horses is broken.
അഞ്ച പെർ പൊയവരിൽ ഒരുത്തനെ പാറാവിൽ ആക്കി.
One of the five that went he put in prison.
6th. The method of using ഒരൊരുത്തൻ, &c., in sentences is thus,
ഒരൊരുത്തൻ പറഞ്ഞ വാക്ക ഒരൊരൊ പ്രകാരം ആയിരുന്നു.
Each ones word was different (from the other.)
അവൻ ഒരൊരുത്തന്ന അയ്യഞ്ച പണം വീതം കൊടുത്തു.
He gave five fanams to each.
ഇത്തരമൊരൊന്നരുൾ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുമ്പൊൾ.
While thus speaking about each.
These pronouns are often used with plural nouns or pronouns thus,
അവർ എല്ലാവരും ഒരൊരുത്തനായിട്ട രാജാവിനെ കണ്ടു.
Each of them saw the king; or, they all saw the king one after the other.
നിങ്ങൾ ഒരൊരുത്തിയായിട്ട വെള്ളത്തിൽ ഇറങ്ങെണം.
You must all go into the water one by one.
ആ പൂമരത്തിൽനിന്ന പുഷ്പങ്ങൾ ഒരൊന്നായിട്ട പറിച്ച എടുക്കെണം.
Pluck all the flowers, one by one, from that tree.
In the same sense may be rendered the following sentences.
ആ ഉദ്ദ്യോഗസ്ഥന്മാരെ അവനവന്റെ സ്ഥാനത്തനിന്ന മാറ്റി അവൎക്ക പകരം വെറെ ആളുകളെ ആക്കെണം.
Remove those officers every one from his place, and appoint others in their stead.
ആ രാജാക്കന്മാർ തന്റെ തന്റെ വലത്തെ കയ്യിൽ വാൾ പിടിച്ചകൊണ്ട അവനവന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിന്മെൽ ഇരുന്നു.
Those kings sat each upon his throne holding a sword in his right hand.
അവനവൻ തന്റെ തന്റെ വീട്ടിലെക്ക പൊകെണം എന്ന രാജാവ കല്പിച്ചു.
The king commanded that each man should go to his own house.
അവർ തന്റെ തന്റെ ആയുധങ്ങളും എടുത്ത അവനവന്റെ കാവൽ സ്ഥലത്തിലെക്ക പൊകെണമെന്ന രാജാവ കല്പിച്ചു.
The king commanded that they should each take his arms, and go to his several guard.
7th. Examples of the use of യാതൊരുത്തൻ, &c.
യാതൊരുത്തൻ എങ്കിലും അവളെ കണ്ടാൽ സ്നെഹിക്കാതെ ഇരിക്കയില്ല.
Whoever may see her will certainly love her.
യാതൊരുത്തന്നെ എങ്കിലും ഇവിടെ വരുവാൻ മനസ്സുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ വരട്ടെ.
Whoever will, let him come.
ഞാൻ നിനക്ക വിരൊധമായിട്ട യാതൊന്ന എങ്കിലും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല.
I have done nothing whatever against you.
യാതൊരുത്തൻ ആയാലും കള്ള കുടിച്ചാൽ എന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ വരരുത.
Whoever may get intoxicated must not come to my house.
8th. Examples of the use of മറ്റൊരുത്തൻ, മറ്റവൻ, വല്ലവൻ, ഇന്നവൻ, ചിലർ, and പലർ.
അവൻ പൊയപ്പൊൾ മറെറാരുത്തൻ വന്നു.
When he went another came.
ഞാൻ മുമ്പെ കണ്ടത ൟ പുസ്തകം തന്നെ മറെറാന്നല്ല.
What I saw before was this very book, and none other.
ഇവൻ വന്നു മററവൻ വന്നില്ല.
This person came, the other did not.
വലിയ പെട്ടി ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ട മറ്റെത ഞാൻ കണ്ടില്ല.
The large box is here, but I did not see the other.
വല്ലവൻ പല്ലക്ക കെറിയാലും എൻ മകൻ ചുമക്കെണം.
Whoever may ride in a palanquin my son must carry it.
വല്ലടത്തും വല്ലതും കണ്ടാൽ അവൻ അത മൊഷ്ടിച്ച കൊണ്ടുപൊകും.
If he see any thing in any place he will steal it.
ഇത മൊഷ്ടിച്ചവൻ ഇന്നവൻ എന്ന ഞാൻ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.
I know who he is that stole this.
അവൻ ഇന്നവന്റെ മകൻ എന്ന ഞാൻ മുമ്പെ തന്നെ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.
I knew beforehand he was such an ones son.
അവരിൽ ചിലർ വന്നു, ചിലർ വന്നില്ല.
Some of them came and some did not.
തനിക്ക ആവശ്യമുള്ള വസ്തുക്കളിൽ ചിലത ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ട.
